Abstract
The name Mercedes Capsir (1897-1969) is probably not particularly remembered today, despite numerous investigations into opera in recent decades. However, it was not only one of the most famous soprans of colouring of its time, with a presence in Europe and the Americas, but Capsir has also moved to history for having taken part in the first role held in the Grand Theatre of the Liceo in Barcelona after the end of the Spanish Civil War in 1939. In this work we offer recognition to the Soprano, as well as a deepening of the aforementioned historical event, characterised by the artistic quality of its participants and its significant ideological burden.
