Vocational rehabilitation centre: development of a proposal

Abstract

Enter: The view of society in relation to people with disabilities and their inclusion as a proactive citizen have made it possible to reflect the various issues, including those relating to work in different ways, such as: competitive, supported or self-employed. By analysing the reality in which the person with disabilities was excluded from the social and professional context, the creation of the Centre for Vocational Rehabilitation of the Association of Inclusive Labour Succession (CRP/ASTI) enters the marilian scenario as a resource to assist both the disabled and the business environment as a mediator in the evaluation, professional empowerment and placement of skilled labour in the competitive labour market. Considering the introduction of the Law of Cotas dated julho/91, which provides for the hiring of a proportion of persons with disabilities by company/industry, its obligation from 2003, as well as the removal of barriers and the adequacy of tools enabling accessibility, activity and the impact of its implementation in relation to the physical, mental health and general autonomy of a person with disabilities, it has encouraged a segregated group to be part of the social context. Objectives: In this work we will analyse the disclosures and actions carried out by the CRP/ASTI with the City of Marília, investigating the focal points for future actions. Methods: The initial actions of the CRP/ASTI arise from the actions of the Group on Studies and Research in Social Inclusion – GEPIS/CNPq in the area of the Group on Vocational Rehabilitation – GERP at the request of the Justice Promotion Group to assist people with disabilities and their family members in entering the labour market. The methodology applied is descriptive in qualitative and quantitative terms in relation to exitous actions already carried out. Results: The results can be achieved through such skills, hiring by local companies and maintaining employment, as one of the issues to be raised is precisely the non-rotation through the formation of working habits in a person with a disability. Such non-rotation defines lower financial, mental and social costs, both for the disabled and for the entrepreneur/industrial environment.
