Abstract
The main purpose of this work is to identify the formation of clubs or centres of convergence and divergence that economic growth has brought about in Mexico’s federation bodies and the role and importance of geo-spatial factors in these formations. The study is carried out by means of a comparative analysis between economic growth and convergence assumptions, based on a cross-sectional spatial regression model. The results obtained suggest that there are different convergence processes in the country’s federal entities, identifying the presence of convergence centres, which tend to different stationary states, with differences in income per capita and in the development of the country’s states being maintained. In addition, the importance and close link between geo-spatial location and the formation of convergence centres in the economic growth of federation entities in the country is highlighted.
