Literary story and translation in the Iberian space: production and reception in the (poly) Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese systems (2000-2015)

Abstract

This article analyses the volumes of stories (for adult and non-child or youth audiences) of contemporary authors who have been translated, over the period 2000-2015, between the (poly) Spanish, Catalan and Portuguese systems. The bibliographic bases on which the searches have been carried out are shown and some clarifications are provided on the methodology used and on the composition of the corpus. With graphic support, and through the relational approximation allowed by the Polysystems Theory, translation phenomena, market conditions, institutional interventions, editorial capitals, etc. are studied, primarily on a quantitative basis, under Iberian studies, which are based on non-monocultural approaches and can capture the socio-cultural and linguistic diversity of the shared geocultural area. Translation is understood as an activity of (re) creation and as a key factor for communications and cultural transfers in the (macro) Iberian literary system.
