Abstract

This article contains the oral testimony of Carmen Caamaño Díaz (Madrid, 1911), who, through his memory, makes a self-biographical journey showing the evolution of an ideological compromise that would make it an active person of internal exile under the Franco regime. In his university stage, Carmen was a member of the board of directors of the FEU (Federación Española de Enseñantes) and Secretary-General of the UFEH (Federal Union of Spanish-American Students) from 1930 to 1931. Master’s degree in philosophy and Letras worked at the Centre for Tiistohcos studies as part of the research team led by Claudio Sáncfiez Albornoz. In 1937, he joined the P.C.E, holding, inter alia, that of the Civilian Governor of Cuenca from January to March 1939. At the end of the war, he was arrested and sentenced to prison. In 1941, he tried to reorganise the Communist Party in the province of Alicante in the clandestiny, being again arrested and sentenced to death, which would be commuted by the prison sentence. Professionally and under police supervision for a number of years, her activity in opposition to the Franco regime would be carried out by the Association of Women Universitaries.This article including the oral statement of Carmen Caamaño Díaz (Madrid, 1911), who covers her autobiography through her memory, expressing an ideogical mise evolution through which she would be an active subjective of the inner exile throughout France’s regime. While being a student at university, she was a member of the Board of Directors of the UFEH (Spanish Teachers Union) and General Secretary of the UFEH (Latin American Student Union) from 1930 to 1931. With a graduree in Arts, she worked at the Centre of Historie Studies taking part within the investigation team conducted by Claudio Sánchez Albornoz. In 1937 she joined the Spanish Communist Party, performing the charge, amongst others, of Civil Governor of Cuenca from January to March 1939. At the end of the war, she was arrested and Sentenced to imprisoment. In 1941 she was considered to be reorganised in secret the Communist Party in the province of Alicante. She has been arrested and Sentenced to the death penalty, which would be commuted for imprisonment. Politically purged and under police control severe years, she would take her position activity to France’s regime from the University Women Association.
