GLOBAL WARMING AND ITS MANIFESTATIONS IN THE CRYOSPHERE OF THE HIGH MOUNTAINS OF ARGENTINA’S NORTH.

Abstract

The effects of Global Climate Change strongly affect the physical parameters that shape the stability of the planet’s cryosphere. The temperatures of the twentieth century have risen in the Andes mountain range by 0.62 °C between 1901 and 1997, rising to 0.4 °C higher than expected in 90 as a result of Global Warming. Moreover, recent assessments of the glaciers in the Central Andes predict that 80 % of glaciers will disappear over the next 15 years. The cryosphere is represented in the high mountains of the Argentinian NW by the presence of mountainous permafrost, which manifests itself in the landscape with glaciers of debris and an association of minor geoforms generated by the permanent or seasonal freezing of the soil. Active debris glaciers, discontinuous permafrost indicators, are located from S to N at heights between 4000 and 4 850 m sms in the region. Its geoecological stability conditions are resilient due to changes in the temperature in height. Criospheric geoindicators of global climate change have been observed and can be used to monitor and monitor geological changes in Argentina’s NW region with Andean permafrost. Examples of cryopherical indicators are briefly described. They can be used to monitor and monitor geological changes in Argentina’s NW region with Andean permafrost. As a result of Global Warming, ice contained in glaciers of debris is being thawed. This can result in catastrophic landslides, dyees and allusions along mountain rivers that cause significant disasters in the populated areas of the work area and the consequent damage to road infrastructure and costly electrical energy recovery facilities.
