THE RURAL POPULATIONS OF MÉRIDA AND THEIR INTER-ETHNIC RELATIONS WITH THE CAPITAL CITY OF THE YUCATECA ENTITY IN MEXICO

Abstract

The aim of this work is to put forward some reflections on the relations established by the 47 rural police communities in the municipality of Mérida, in the context of their daily coexistence with that city and the processes of the liberal economy, through which the expansion of unprecedented economic relations, new lifestyles and social values, and the spread of Western culture, is encouraged. In essence, we will focus on the inter-ethnic links that these peoples establish with their municipal head, highlighting the place and sense of identity they represent within their current social structure. ABSTRACT The aim of this paper is to propose some reflections on the relationships they establish the 47 rural communities in the municipality of Persda, in the context of their dairy contact with the city and the liberal economic processes, through which fosters Unprecedented expansion of economic relations, new mixtures and social values, and with the spread of Western culture. In essence, we will protect the inter ethnic ties which provide for these villages with the main towns, raising the place and sense of identity that represented within its current social structure.
