Abstract
This article deals with the state transformations in Mexico and Latin America and their impact on social food policies. Firstly, the reform of the State is based on new theoretical perspectives, referring to the emerging theories of complexity and its relations with decentralisation and new actors. Secondly, the stages of social food policy and its effects on social organisation are described. Finally, we look at the new food policies in Mexico and their likely prospects from the point of view of creating a share capital as part of emerging theories about society and the state.
