Abstract

on 1 May 1995, millions of viewers were deployed, at the height of the Garnier Palais, where Jean-Marie Le Pen and his troops celebrated Jeanne d’Arc, a huge 100 m² yellow cloth, with the inscription ‘No to racism. No to fascism. “This spectacular action was signed “Ras l’Front”, one of many movements mobilised against the influence of the extreme right and his ideas. Since the first electoral success of the Lepenist party in 1983, well before its leader received 15 % of the votes cast in a presidential election, anti-Front national groups were created throughout France.
