Nadies? Without anyone? Using ethnographic interviews and recordings of mobilisations that travelled the city of Viedma (province of Río Negro) from popular neighbourhoods to the centre, this work looks at how racism has an impact on people’s daily lives — particularly among Mapuche groups — and, in turn, how they are confronted with hegemonic narratives and vehiculise their strategies of resistance and strengthening. While hegemonic narratives reproduce racism and naturalise historical constraints, speeches produced by Mapuche groups criticise these effects and raise a dissenting reading of racialisation processes, through which they challenge the role of the state and reflect on shared, silent history, from which they seek to restore their ties as a people.
