ACTIVE METHODOLOGY IMPACT ANALYSIS AND Heurative learning IN INGENIERÍAhttp subjects://d08a0603-b70f-401c-9cd6-b8ba2415f063.This article presents the experiences of incorporating active methodologies and heurstic learning in early year subjects of the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Atacama, the pilotage was carried out with the groups of students who, during the academic periods from March 2012 to December 2014, took part in the ‘Introduction to Programming’ course. To this end, a number of techniques have been introduced into these courses, which, without being new ones, are generally not used in subjects with large numbers of students or in the initial training of novel engineers. Although initially the interventions carried out had a certain level of rejection, both teachers and students, once both manage to assume their respective roles, are starting to achieve positive results. The results achieved show greater attendance and participation in classes by students, coupled with a considerable increase in performance (177 %) together with an improvement in the significant learnings achieved by students, especially in terms of teaching logic in programming and developing algorithmic thinking, which are historically the two most complex topics in their learning. The work presented in this article is part of the development of the internal research project DIUDA-22249, funded by the Research and Postgraduate Directorate of the University of Atacama.
