The advent of new brain imaging techniques such as resting-state functional MRI (fMRI), has led to the need for new approaches to recover brain functional activations without a prior knowledge on the experimental paradigm, as it was the case for task-fMRI. Conventional methods, i.e. the general linear model, requires the knowledge of the task paradigm to estimate the contribution of each voxel's time course to the given task. To overcome this limitation, approaches to deconvolve the blood-oxygen-leveldependent (BOLD) response and recover the underlying neural activations without necessity of prior information has been proposed. Supposing the brain activates in constant blocks, frst we propose a temporal regularized deconvolution technique which uses an exponential operator, whose shape and performance can be adjusted, into a least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) model solved via the Least-Angle Regression (LARS) algorithm. We reduced the number of parameters to be set by the user, when compared with the state of the art. Second, we introduce a paradigm-free regularization algorithm that applies on the 4-D fMRI image, acting simultaneously in the 3-D space and the 1-D time dimensions. The approach is based on the idea that large image variations should be preserved as they occur during an activation, whereas small variations should be smoothed to remove noise. It allows to smooth the whole fMRI image with an anisotropic regularization, thus blindly recovering the location of the brain activations in space and their timing and duration.Both approaches were tested on phantom and real data and were demonstrated to improve the results obtained in the state of the art.

L'avènement de nouvelles techniques d'imagerie du cerveau comme l'IRM fonctionnelle (IRMf) au repos a conduit à la nécessité de nouvelles méthodes pour récupérer les activations fonctionnelles du cerveau sans connaissance du paradigme expérimental, comme dans l’IRMf basée sur tâche. Les méthodes conventionnelles, par example le modèle linéaire général, nécessitent la connaissance de la tâche pour pouvoir estimer la contribution du signal de chaque voxel à la tâche donnée. Pour surmonter ces limitations, des méthodes de déconvolution de la réponse dépendant du niveau d'oxygène dans le sang et de récupération des activations neurales sans avoir besoin d'informations préalables ont été proposées. Dans cette thèse, nous proposons d'abord une technique de déconvolution avec une regularisation temporelle qui utilise un opérateur exponentiel, dont la forme et la performance peuvent être ajustées.Avec cette méthode, nous avons réduit le nombre de paramètres à régler par l'utilisateur, par rapport à l'état de l'art. Ensuite, nous avons introduit un algorithme de régularisation qui s'applique à l'image IRMf 4-D, agissant simultanément dans les dimensions spatiale et temporelle. La méthode est basée sur l'idée que les grandes variations de l'image doivent être préservées car elles se produisent lors d'une activation et les petites variations doivent être lissées pour éliminer le bruit. Elle permet de lisser l'image IRMf avec une régularisation anisotrope, récupérant ainsi aveuglément la localisation des activations cérébrales et leur durée. Les deux méthodes ont été testées sur des données synthétiques et réelles et ont démontré une amélioration des résultats de l'état de l'art.

[ES] For the numerical calculation of equations in partial derivates, multiple methods have been developed over the years. The finite compact differences (CFD, Lele 1990) arise as an update of the finite differences and Padé interpolling schemes. The use of molecules in the derivative and function produces formulas for the resolution of equations in very high order partial derivates with relatively few points and in the form of dispersed matrices. On the other hand, in engineering, wind tunnels have been used for the study of aerodynamics around solid objects for more than 100 years. This has led to major advances in aerodynamics and aeronautical engineering disciplines but often limited by the volume of the tunnel and the air speed that could be delivered, in addition to the cost of constructing a tunnel of a size appropriate to the size of the solid and model to be analysed. This project is related to a code under development in IUMPA which aims to perform direct numerical simulations of virtual wind tunnel objects using the Inmerse Boundary Conditions technique. This requires extremely reliable and fast computational techniques. Although the CFD method has been widely used in 1D problems, it has not been used in 2D for reasons of relative or sub-determination in the two-dimensional molecules coefficients. In this GFF we raise the possibility of 3D problems through the combined use of CFDs in two directions together with a Fourier method in the third direction, in order to be able to recreate the resolution method discussed above. Las diferencias finitas compactas (CFD, Lele 1990) surgen como una actualización de las diferencias finitas y los esquemas interpolantes de Padé. Mediante el uso de moléculas en la derivada y en la función se consiguen fórmulas para la resolución de ecuaciones en derivadas parciales de orden muy alto con relativamente pocos puntos y en forma de matrices dispersas. Por otro lado, en ingeniería, para el estudio de la aerodinámica alrededor de objetos sólidos se han usado desde hace más de 100 años los túneles de viento, con esto se han conseguido grandes avances en la aerodinámica y las disciplinas de la ingeniería aeronáutica pero a menudo limitados por el volumen del túnel y la velocidad del aire que podría entregarse, además del coste que implica la construcción de un túnel del tamaño adecuado a la dimensión del sólido y la maqueta que se quiere analizar. Este proyecto está relacionado con un código en desarrollo en el IUMPA que pretende realizar simulaciones numéricas directas de objetos de túneles de viento virtuales mediante la técnica de Inmerse Boundary Conditions. Esto requiere técnicas computacionales extremadamente fiables y rápidas. Aunque el método CFD ha sido muy usado en problemas 1D, no se ha usado en 2D por motivos de sobre o sub determinación en los coeficientes de moléculas de dos dimensiones. [CA] Per al càlcul numèric décuacions en derivades parcials s'han desenvolupat múltiples mètodes al llarg dels anys, les diferències finites compactes (CFD, Lele 1990) sorgeixen com una actualització de les diferències finites i els esquemes interpolants de Padé. Mitjançant l'ús de molècules en la derivada i en la funció sáconsegueixen fórmules per a la resolució déquacions en derivades parcials dórdre molt alt amb relativament pocs punts i en forma de matrius disperses. Dáltra banda, en ingenyeria, per a léstudi de láerodinàmica al voltant dóbjectes sòlids s'han usat desde fa més de 100 anys els túnes de vent, amb aixoà s'han aconseguit grans avanços en láerodinàmica i les disciplines de lénginyeria aeronàutica perà sovint limitats pel volum del túnel i la velocitat de láire que podria entregar-se, a més del cost que implica la construcció dún túnel de la grandària adequada a la dimensió del sòlid i la maqueta que es vol analitzar. Aquest projecte està relacionat amb un codi en desenvolupament en el IUMPA que pretén realitzr simulacions numèiques directes dóbjectes de túnels de vent virtuals mitjançant la tècnica de Inmerse Boundary Conditions. Això requereix tècniques computacionals extremadament fiables i ràpides.
