This is a bibliographic and documentary print search, the approach of which is qualitative. The analysis was based on what determines the national and local legal treasures on the career of teachers approved in the recent context of the fund policy, based on the following indicators: Form of Return, Career Structure and Minimum Training; career movement criteria; duration and composition of the working day; salaries and components of teaching remuneration; encouragement of continued training. The study showed that both networks adopt the call for tenders as the main method of entry and provide for the possibility of horizontal and vertical progression with a change in remuneration. Notwithstanding the provisions of Law No 11.738/08 concerning the 1/3 working day for extraclasse activities, neither of the two networks is complied with. It was also noted that the weight of gratuities as a component of teachers’ pay in the two networks in some situations amounts to more than 50 %. The challenge is to put into practice the current legislative achievements, many of which exist only in the letter of the law.
