The figure of Ibn al-Ja-īb como Consejero de Pedro I de Castilla: between ficción y realidad
Through a few Arab and Castillan sources, we will try to analyse the role played by the Granada Ibn al-Kha-īb Vizir as an advisor to Pierre Ier de Castille, as well as the instrumentalisation of the Maure Councillor’s character through trastamarepropaganda. The first military reactions following the installation of Goths in Thrace focus on the identification and interpretation of military reactions to Goths 1 in favour of Goths. Our focus is on the identification and interpretation of military reactions to Goths 206527 in favour of Goths. as reflected in the written submissions of some authors of the same time. These reactions can be seen in the broader context of the politico-ideological conflict, triggered within the Empire, concerning the gothic issue during the last two decades of the fourth century.Military reactions were not only aimed at the legitimate and permanent settlement of the federated Goths in part of the imperial territory or their harmful attitude towards the population of these regions, but above all were based on the underlying threat: the barbarisation of the army and the company. Thus, the gap between those who supported the policy of Theodosis I and those who disagreed with it is formalised in the dual representation of the Goths, as evidenced by the sources of the time. Indeed, the texts reflect the divergent trends expressed within the protobyzantine society during this transitional period. The attitude towards the Barbaric peoples activated the differences between political power and the army, centre and periphery, ultimately between those who were advocating for the survival of old ideas and those who formulated a new ideology.
