Open Call for Applications – Pilot Projects with GoTriple Data Services
GoTriple Data Services invites researchers in the Social Sciences and Humanities (SSH) to participate in an open call for pilot projects. This is a unique opportunity to utilize the innovative GoTriple Data Services research infrastructure, built on the GoTriple platform, to conduct data-driven research in scholarly communication within the context of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). We aim to support interdisciplinary research by integrating GoTriple resources with advanced data analysis tools.
Two projects will be selected for support in the program.
Thematic Areas
We welcome projects addressing topics related to:
- Scholarly Communication in SSH: Analysis of publications, research data, projects, and profiles in the context of Open Science.
- Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs): Exploration of the relationships between scholarly communication and the SDGs.
- Social Challenges: Investigations into issues such as social inequalities, migration, disinformation, and cultural heritage preservation within the framework of Open Science.
About the GoTriple Data Services Research Infrastructure
The GoTriple Data Services research infrastructure provides an integrated environment that includes:
- Access to GoTriple Data: The GoTriple platform offers an extensive range of SSH resources, including over 18 million publications and datasets, 18 million documents, 23,000 and 21 million authors.
- Advanced Data Analysis Tools (learn more on this page)
- GoTriple API - Enables customised access to GoTriple data tailored to research needs.
- Pundit - A semantic annotation tool that allows users to enrich data and create connections between document fragments.
- JupyterLab - A data analysis and coding environment integrated with the platform.
- Neo4j - A tool for visualising and analysing relationships between data elements.
Data Science Support: A dedicated team of data analysis experts assisting at every stage of the project.
FAIR-Compliant Publishing: Tools and support for publishing research outcomes (manuscripts/preprints, datasets, code) in compliance with the FAIR principles.
Benefits for Selected Projects
Successful applicants will receive:
- Early access to the GoTriple Data Services research infrastructure for six months (July 2025 – February 2026)
- Support from Data Science experts in data acquisition, processing, and analysis
- Our Data Science team consists of data analysis experts with a strong humanities background: Dr. Cezary Rosiński & Nikodem Wołczuk, who have years of experience in research and research software.
- We will support you by developing dedicated Python scripts for your research and integrating them with the GoTriple pipeline, ensuring that your outputs are visible on the GoTriple platform.
- Visibility
- Assistance in publishing research results in a FAIR-compliant manner, including in repositories such as Zenodo and GitHub.
- An opportunity to showcase findings on a dedicated project webpage on the GoTriple platform by publishing datasets, visualisations and other research outputs.
- Featuring results through OPERAS social media and events (conferences, workshops, etc.).
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Be either researchers or students enrolled at institutions located in EU member states or associated countries.
- Represent a discipline within the Social Sciences and Humanities.
- Have a research project idea that would benefit from using data from the GoTriple platform and that aligns with the thematic areas of GoTriple Data Services and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
- Demonstrate that their proposed research idea is grounded in prior research activity, at least at the level of e.g. preliminary studies, publications, conference presentations, datasets, or participation in a research project.
- Be interested in collaborating with the GoTriple Data Science team and contributing to the testing and development of the platform's services.
- Be willing to publish their results (manuscripts/preprints, datasets, code) under FAIR principles in Open Access and be available to participate in an "exit interview" to assess the usefulness of the services and data science support.
