Conception d'un outil synchrone d'enseignement à distance

Abstract

The ENIC Telecom Lille 1 is a school of engineer in the field of Sciences and Technologies for Information and Communication. It proposes since 1994 a distant formation of engineers. This formation makes it possible to the future engineers to be trained while remaining in their company of origin. The main idea is to deliver information and the formation primarily on the place of work of the person. This formation which comprises asynchronous methods (support on line, mail and forum electronic etc.) also comprises synchronous sessions carried out in the distance. In this kind of session, the teacher and the students exchange real-time informations, similar to those which would relate to a session of traditional and « in presence » course, i.e. presentation of documents, annotations on white board and interactive exchanges etc. This document focuses on the system used, since 2000, to produce these synchronous sessions. It exposes the technical and economical causes which led our school to design and develop such a tool. The school annually performs more than 300h synchronous courses with this system which represent approximately 10.000 hourXstudent per year.
